We offer impact sound insulation assessment. This test measures the impact noise from a room above with a tapping machine to simulate sound such as footfall and general banging / knocking. This test is only carried out where one residence, room or living quarter (or a portion thereof) is directly above another. An Impact test is carried out using a Class 1 Sound Level Meter and an Impact Machine (also known as a Tapping machine).
Some standards that we use are
- ISO 16283-2:2020 Acoustics — Field measurement of sound insulation in buildings and of building elements — Part 2: Impact sound insulation (replaces ISO 140-7:1998, ISO 140-14:2004)
- ISO 717-2:2020 Acoustics — Rating of sound insulation in buildings and of building elements — Part 2: Impact sound insulation
- IEC 61672-1 Electroacoustics – Sound level meters – Part 1: Specifications
