Advanced High-Speed Spectral Imaging Camera modified for high energies

The AdvaPIX MAGIC Quad combines several benefits: Electronics placed aside in sensitive areas, minimum amount of material behind sensors, the completely free path for primary X-ray beam passing through the (optional) hole. It uses a single USB3.0 interface providing synchronized operation of all four Timepix3 chips.

AdvaPIX MAGIC Quad is the world’s first photon-counting detector that operates in list data-driven mode. This means every radiation hit is recorded into a continuous data stream. The device measures each detected quanta’s position, energy, and time-of-arrival.

The detector provides ultra-fast sparse data readout able to acquire up to 47 million pixel hits per second.

The AdvaPIX MAGIC Quad can be used in a variety of applications, such as:

  • Energy-resolved radiography (X-rays, neutrons, ions)
  • Particle tracking
  • Time-of-flight imaging
  • Compton camera
  • Spectroscopic X-ray imaging
  • Crystallography (SAXS, XRD)
  • The sensors can be adapted for neutron imaging by depositing the converter layer (6LiF).

Recording individual hits together with advanced data processing allows imaging at super spatial resolution. It can reach units of microns (X-rays) or even sub-micrometric levels (ions).
