Piezoelectric ceramics is one of electronic ceramics. When a piezoelectric ceramic is hit, a high voltage is generated instantaneously, and conversely, when a voltage is applied, the piezoelectric ceramic expands and contracts. Piezoelectric ceramics are ceramics that have the function of converting electrical energy and mechanical energy.
 
Fuji Ceramics offers elements suitable for various applications while selecting a wide range of materials for piezoelectric ceramics through consistent processes from research and development to manufacturing.
 
The application fields of piezoelectric ceramics can be broadly divided into vibrators and transducers. Vibrators are used for electrical input – mechanical vibration – electrical output, and include ceramic oscillators, filters, piezoelectric buzzers, and piezoelectric transformers. Transducers include ultrasonic cleaners and actuators that use electrical input-mechanical output, and vibration/shock sensors and piezoelectric elements that use mechanical input-electrical output. There are a wide range of application fields that have been put into practical use.

Composite transducer

Composite vibrators have a structure in which grooves are processed in piezoelectric ceramics and the grooves are filled with resin. Acoustic impedance (= density x speed of sound) is smaller than that of ordinary piezoelectric elements, and ultrasonic waves can be emitted efficiently even between objects with different sound speeds (from air to water, or living organisms). and so on.

Airborne ultrasonic sensor High frequency type

The presence or absence of an object or the distance to an object is measured by emitting ultrasonic waves into the air and receiving the reflected waves from the object.
 
The high-frequency type with frequencies of 110 kHz to 400 kHz features high resolution and sharp directivity.

Airborne ultrasonic sensor Low frequency type

The presence or absence of an object or the distance to an object is measured by emitting ultrasonic waves into the air and receiving the reflected waves from the object.
 
A low frequency type with a frequency of 40 kHz can also be used for long-distance (several meters) detection.

Langevin type ultrasonic transducer for cleaning machine

A vibrator with an integrated structure in which a piezoelectric element is sandwiched between two metal blocks. High-power, high-amplitude driving is possible, and it is often used as one of the dynamic uses of ultrasonic waves.

Bimorph transducer

A bimorph vibrator is a flexural vibrator constructed by joining two piezoelectric elements that expand and contract in the length direction so that when one expands, the other contracts.
 
They are divided into series type and parallel type according to the wiring method, and are used for actuator applications such as micropumps and vibration switches, as well as sensor applications such as acoustic pickups.

Ultra-sensitive air pressure sensor

This is an ultra-sensitive sensor that can detect minute pressure changes in air and gas that could not be detected in the past.
